HOW TO USE THE ABH LIP PALETTE USING BASIC COLOR THEORY
I went online to see the reviews of the ABH lip palette but I didn't see many videos on how to use the primary colors, so I thought I would do that today for those of you that are just getting into makeup. I see videos on the review of the texture and colors but not why primary colors are so important or even how to use them. I guess this separates the pros from the Youtube folks..:P
A word to my pro friends...don't get it twisted...I'm not jumping into the world of social media makeup so don't worry...I will forever be a pro makeup artist!
Now that we have THAT straight...
It's no secret that I love color and I love to mix color. I mix custom blend colors in our Chicago Makeup Studio. I hope my teaching method is easy to digest, even if it does seem elementary to my pro friends....
Here's the thing with color...once you learn how to mix color, your life becomes so much easier as a makeup artist or, even someone who just likes makeup!
In this video, I wanted to give you a basic understanding of how pros use color theory. Using this palette, I show you a simple way to make any color and then adding that color to any of the lipsticks in the palette. The beauty of this palette is you are able to create whatever your heart desires... :)
Ps. Ignore my nails. This is the real life of a working pro. We never enough time to pamper ourselves, much less get dressed in the morning. #thisisreallife
VIDEO HOW TO
SIMPLE COLOR THEORY QUICK GUIDE
Now that you have watched the video, I wanted to upload an easy to reference guide on color theory.
Feel free to pull it up on your phone or iPad whenever you need it as you learn. I hope I made this easy to use for beginners.
This chart is from my makeup studio and I use this when teaching new artists about color theory and foundation, but I thought it would be a good idea to have it live here on this post. :)
While I didn't go into tertiary colors, once you know the basics like we show in the video, it's easy to follow using the chart below.
If you would to download this chart, you can download for free here....but if you share, please give credit where credit is due..that's all I ask. Thank you!
And last but NOT least, (or I should rather say FIRST but not last) is light. This is one of the biggest reasons I love The Makeup Light. As a professional makeup artist, how we see reflective light is so crucial and why white light is critical when thinking about color theory.
I hope these quick tips and tricks help you non pro makeup artists how to use their Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip palette to the full potential.
Happy face painting!
